Dan John Mahoney (1909 - 1996) Educated at Marist Brothers' High School at Parramatta, and was a Postmaster General's employee from 1925 until 1959. He served as an alderman on Parramatta City Council from 1954 – 1959 (including a term as Mayor in 1958). Following this he was elected as the state member for Parramatta from 1959 to 1976.   He was easily re-elected on five occasions, always winning on the primary vote.
